The total eclipse that has been predicted on the 8th of April is getting suspicious and eerie by the day. The US government has released a very detailed warning list for the citizens, and that warning issue is so detailed and lengthy, with so many strange warnings, that we are suspecting something weird, brothers and sisters. The solar eclipse is definitely an important sign, but only for us people who do not follow religion, such as the US population. Why are they bothering this eclipse so much? Why are they preparing for it as if they are expecting something else with it? If you take a look at the warnings that their government has issued, you will also think the same way. There are so many warnings with so much detail, but let us only mention them broadly.
So, the official warning notice for the solar eclipse of April 8th says that you should schedule your errands and appointments early, keep an eye on your pets, buy necessary groceries, and keep your car tank filled with gas. School might go off on the day of the solar eclipse, so keep your medications stocked up. Make sure you have cash on hand because there might be limited internet access. Create a strong network of communication with family and friends. Do not drive on a freeway or highway during the time of the eclipse. These are the only highlights of the detailed warning issue that the US government has released for its citizens. Have you ever heard of warning signs for the solar eclipse other than wearing goggles and not looking at the eclipse directly? So, why is it so different this time around? Is this eclipse going to be different from all other ones that have ever happened?
The reason why the Christian community is taking this seriously is because of the verse in the Bible which says that darkness will prevail when the last hour will have arrived. Mark 15:33 reads, “And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.” Many Christians are fearful and scared, reflecting on their lives that these few days might be their last days on this Earth, and they might be spending their afterlife in pretty bad condition because of their sins. Some of them also believe that on the day of the eclipse, Isa alisam will arrive.
Even the Jews are taking this solar eclipse as an omen because it has coincided with the sacrifice of the red heifers, the most important ritual that will be happening after around 2,000 years. The reality can only be proved from the Quran and Hadith. Allah says in Surah, “And He has subjected for your benefit the day and the night. The sun and the moon and the stars have been subjected by His command. Surely then, these are signs for those who understand.” This solar eclipse is also a sign, but for what could this be the sign? For the arrival of Imam Mahi or a sign that all the major signs of the day of judgment are going to come true this year only Allah knows best, brothers and sisters.
What we should do when there is a solar eclipse is that we should offer our prayer, the Sal, ask Allah for mercy and forgiveness for the betterment and benefit of the whole ummah, just like the Prophet did according to the Hadith. The Prophet did not leave the prayer until the darkness had completely gone. He kept on making the Dua, asking for mercy and forgiveness from the Almighty. We should treat it very seriously and maintain our conduct according to the Hadith and Sunnah. May Allah forgive us all, may Allah make us worthy of facing Him when the day of judgment arrives.
